Escheburg Riesling dry 2023
Clearly yeasty, equally pronounced herbaceous-planty, but also intense earthy notes, wet flint, ripe apricot notes, yellow apple, galia melon - this potpourri presents the Escheburg Riesling from Immich-Batterieberg already in the nose. On the palate then quite juicy, clearly mineral notes, which pairs with a fully ripe fruit of apricot, yellow apple and white currant. This impression is excitingly underpinned by interwoven salty notes that lead into a firm finish with a long reverberation. This Mosel Riesling is perfect with graved salmon, pike perch with pears, beans and bacon, fried chicken and Wiener schnitzel.

The Immich Batterieberg Escheburg reveals an interesting and multi-faceted overall picture. It is not unjustifiably compared to a Großes Gewächs. Its depth comes from aging in used wooden barrels. Its character is given by the 4 legendary steep slopes from which the Riesling grapes originate. On the nose, it is complex and elegant, clearly recognizable here the exotic mango and fine honey. The palate is very round and silky. The noticeable residual sugar was skillfully incorporated and is pleasantly underlined by the ripe acidity. The fruity nuances remain present here as well and are complemented by balsamic notes. The slightly spicy minerality initially remains in the background. It only adds another exciting nuance in the long finish. A smooth, well-structured white wine with a flattering mouthfeel. A white wine with decent storage potential. Under the right conditions, one can expect great things from this Riesling in the future.

Immich Batterieberg
The Immich-Batterieberg wine estate in Enkirch is one of the oldest wine estates in the Moselle. The first mention of the central part of the estate, which is still preserved today, dates back to 908 AD in a document of the last Carolingian king of East Francia, Ludwig IV, who confirmed a handover of the estate to the church.
