Uhlen Roth Lay Grand Cru Riesling dry 2020
The Uhlen is an extreme landscape and this is exactly what is reflected in the wine. The overlay of the soil is low and the slate is infused with iron. You can smell this almost immediately in the wine, which exudes smoky, stony aromas. The result is a purist Riesling to "chew on", so full-bodied and wild in its impression. This is pure stone, a reflection of the landscape and the microclimate.

The Winninger Uhlen is perhaps the most spectacular terraced vineyard on the entire Moselle. It lies between 75 and 210 metres above sea level, its steepness is 50-70%. Within the single vineyard site, the Uhlen consists of different layers of shale from ancient continental faults and rearrangements of 300 million year old seabed. This is where our best Rieslings grow, finesse-rich wines full of minerality, incomparable aromatic diversity and a unique and seductive interplay of fruit and acidity.
