Layet Grosses Gewächs (Grand Cru) Riesling 2022
On the nose, the minerality already beguiles with earthy, spicy hints reminiscent of wet stones or the air after a summer thunderstorm. In the midst of this complex aroma, aromas of ripe apples, juicy peaches and spicy-refreshing citrus notes typical of Rieslings from the Middle Mosel are reflected. On the palate, Layet GG impressively proves that this is a fine-bodied Riesling with a silky structure and strong grip that cares less about primary fruit flavors rather than deep minerality. The long finish underscores the character of this expressive and dense Riesling with enormous aging potential.

The Nik Weis - St. Urbans-Hof winery began making dry Rieslings as early as the 1970s, when the majority of Mosel vintners were still producing exclusively sweet wines. A valuable wealth of experience that continues to be enriched to this day. In order to create the best possible growing conditions in the vineyard and produce authentic wines with a clear guarantee of origin in taste, Nik Weis and his team radically rely on manual labor and a particularly selective hand harvest, sometimes over several passes. Only completely healthy and fully ripe grapes with a high aromatic complexity form the basis for his GGs. The wines ferment spontaneously in stainless steel tanks and, depending on the vintage, are aged in traditional Moselfuder (1000 l). A late filling in the summer of the following year allows the wines a long maturation and the necessary time for flavor development

Nik Weis - St. Urbans Hof
The St. Urbanshof wine estate has its roots in one of the most beautiful sunny locations on the Moselle: an elegant loop of the river follows the course of the sun along the gently sloping vineyards, where the wine estate was built and founded in 1947 by Nicolaus Weis under the name "St. Urbans-Hof" on an enchanting hill. Since 1997, Nik Weis, the third generation, has been running the estate on an area of around 35 hectares, from which he produces refined delicacies, specialising in Riesling.
