World famous Riesling wines from Saarburg
The winery Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken, which was first mentioned in a document in 1742, was founded by the then Royal Prussian forester Ferdinand Geltz (1851-1925), who laid the foundation for one of today's most successful family businesses on the Saar and Mosel. Today this is managed by Hans-Joachim, called Hanno, Ruth and his daughter Dorothee and her husband Phillipp and the tradition is successfully continued.
Every year, about 75,000 bottles are produced, for which the Riesling grapes from 11 hectares of land are needed. Thus, Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken produces exclusively Riesling, which covers the portfolio from fruity to noble sweet, young to old or drinking to treasure wine.

Timeless tradition is the Motto for highest quality standards
The values of family, tradition and Riesling have made the Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken winery a VDP member and a national and international trademark for Riesling wines. The clear focus on Riesling and the development of ideal sites contribute to an incomparable quality that gives gourmets and wine professionals as much drinking pleasure as interested newcomers.
Finest Riesling wines from the steep vineyards of the Saar
The family owns parts of the Saarburger Rausch site, one of the absolute top sites of the growing area, where, as in hardly any other site, a perfectly balanced microclimate prevails, in which the harmonious alternation of morning mist, sun rays and wind creates a very multilayered microcosm of important plants and creatures.

11 hectars of steep vineyards along the river Saar
All sites of the Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken winery are classified as VDP Große Lage, and all of them are steep sites that are optimal for Riesling.
In Saarburger Rausch, the estate's largest and most important site, the Riesling vines root up to 10 meters deep into the soil, whose mixture of Devonian slate and volcanic rock is another aspect of the Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken winery's impeccable Riesling wines.
With its soils of quartz, Devonian slate and clay, the Ockfener Bockstein offers perfect conditions for an uncomplicatedly enjoyable Riesling, which is a special pleasure experience, especially for wine beginners.
