High up on the summit ridge of the Ayl Kupp lies the Stirn vineyard. Optimally oriented to the south and steep, the vines here catch a maximum of sunlight. The soil, covered with coarse slate plates, is shallow and and water flows quickly down the valley. Therefore, the vines must root deep into the rock to give extract to the small-berried old vines.
