Schieferkristall Riesling dry 2020
Low alcohol, cool fruit, lots of minerality. Very fresh, cool nose with delicate citrus notes, white currants, some lychee, plus clear slate and Sponti spice, light on its feet like a ballerina but punchy like a Bruce Lee punch. (2020)

The richness and substance would never lead you to believe that the wine is only 10.5% alcohol. But it is, and that is precisely the special terroir of the Karthäuserhof: low alcohol, full flavour. And even if it is "only" the estate wine according to the classification: try the Schieferkristall even after ten or fifteen years in the bottle: a wine with depth and a lot of potential.
The grapes grow in an old parcel of the Karthäuserhofberg on barren and slatey subsoil and south-western exposure.
To preserve all the delicate aromas that the vine produces, we basically harvest all the grapes by hand, press with gentle pressure and do as little as possible in the cellar. But we invest something essential: time. Patience and time always pay off in viticulture, in pressing, fermenting and maturing. With us there is no fining, sedimentation takes place naturally, only sulphur is added.
