Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt

Josephshöfer Grosses Gewächs (Grand Cru) Riesling dry 2018

Lush fruit reminiscent of orange peel, peach, apricot, rounded off by a present minerality, on the finish. Strong and full-bodied, yet elegant. This wine has a long finish. Pure pleasure with every sip. Recommended with: grilled meat, a dish with a strong sauce, porcini mushroom risotto or game dishes with a fruity component and also strong hard cheese.

The monopoly site Josephshöfer was first mentioned in a document 1,100 years ago. This gem, a former monastery with vineyard property of only 4.0 ha in size, was acquired by the Counts Kesselstatt after secularisation in 1858. The Josephshöfer belongs to the famous village of Graach on the Middle Moselle and is situated between the Wehlen Sundial and the Graach Domprobst.
The south-facing steep slope with a gradient of up to 60°, lies up to 180m above sea level and has a deep, grey Devonian slate weathered soil with a high proportion of fine earth - a relatively heavy soil by Moselle standards. The result is full-bodied, spicy wines with incredible ripening potential. Characteristic is also the unmistakable peach aroma with a hint of wild herbs, fine earthy components and great elegance.

Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt

With its proud age of over 665 years, Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is considered one of the oldest wineries in the Moselle winegrowing region. Even today, four former Maximiner monasteries - with vineyard holdings and absolute top sites on the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer - form the foundation of the winery. These include the Josephshof in Graach as well as the Domklausenhof in Piesport on the Moselle, the Abteihof in Oberemmel on the Saar and the St. Irminenhof in Kasel on the Ruwer.
